My Moral Compass topics open up a wide range of possibilities to challenge your students to think critically about events in our history and relate them to the events happening right now.
Choose topics as they come up in the syllabus
My Moral Compass topics cover many of the important events in the 20th and 21st centuries. Topics like Women’s Suffrage, Segregation, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam War, and Watergate can be assigned when your class is studying those units, encouraging a deep understanding of these important events.
Choose “at large” assignments
Allow students to select a topic of their choice. This will encourage students to learn about topics they might have a particular interest in. There are articles on Alan Turing, OJ Simpson, Napster, and the Beatles. These assignments can be given as part of the syllabus or as extra credit.
