A Note From The Author About the Content

I began writing My Moral Compass articles back in 2010. The early articles were written with the intention of being what I’d call a “hobby-blog”. I would examine each historical event in a 1000-2000 word article and inject a point of view. I am an unapologetic liberal, so many of the articles were originally written with a liberal bias.

Over time I have converted the site to be an educational site, adding the features that make the teacher customization possible. I’ve also converted many of the articles to a 2 part format, with part 1 being a description of the event and part 2 being an author analysis with a sometimes biased point of view. An important feature of the teacher customization is the ability to hide the author’s analysis so the student must read the article, view the media, and form their own point of view without being biased by the author’s opinions. There are 53 articles published on the site (as of this writing) and some have NOT been converted to the split 2 part format yet. I am working on it!

Having said that, this content does not attempt to be a comprehensive review of each event. In all of the articles, the author presents a point of view. This is not unlike material students are exposed to all the time via cable news, blogs, Youtube, and political satire such as the Daily Show and Saturday Night Live. My Moral Compass challenges the reader to agree or disagree with the author and form their own opinions about the morals and ethics of the people involved.
